More specifically, I offer students and parents the following:

Convenience: I'm an In-Home and Online Tutor (Skype), so I either come to you, or am available at the click of a button. Parents don't have to be a taxi drivers. I also bring the scrap paper, pencils, calculators, study material, etc.

Flexibility: Sometimes my students have a game, an event, a checking-out-colleges-this-week trip...and

I will work with their schedule.

Results through a balance of structure with personalization:

I have a consistent fall-back-baseline-standard structure for lesson planning (i.e., for the SAT...initial diagnostic test, practice tests every two weeks, non-overwhelming homework assignments, review of test-taking strategies, etc) and I leave room to recognize and work with the fact that each student is different, will have different goals, and different areas of mathematical strengths and weaknesses. My objective is to raise my student's comprehension and score/grade, I focus on whatever it takes to make that happen.

Non-boring instruction: This is largely because I enjoy teaching.

I like to say that my students don't need to have good attitudes...I have a good enough attitude for the both of us.

Experience: I've worked with all kinds of students in all kinds of settings from Asbury Park High School, to Huntington Learning Center. I also eat College-Board-Blue-SAT-Prep-Books for breakfast (just not kidding).

Clear Instruction: If my student doesn't "get it"...perfect. That means I get to discover new and creative ways of demonstrating the material (yay).

Patience: If I have a student that does not understand a thought process is as follows: "How do I know my student should not understand this concept yet? They don't understand it yet. What is, is. If I mentally argue with it, I lose. And how can we proceed from here?"

"In just a half an hour of over the phone tutoring...I understood concepts I have been struggling with for over a month. Dan has really come through so many times for me, even at the last second. I just can't express my gratitude enough!"---Joanna, Howell, NJ

"When the SAT and ACT test dates came around, the regular help (tutoring) from Dan paid off: Matthew scored a perfect score in math on both the SAT and ACT. Parents, when you weigh the financial cost of paying for Dan's periodic help, make sure to factor in the long term benefits of having your kid feel great and actually learn the building blocks required for higher level math."

"Dan  has made math a class I like to go to now. I feel confident to raise my hand in class and I have done well on the tests that I have taken since he began working with me. Dan was also very chill which made me comfortable to ask him questions. I think Dan is the best math tutor."

"Dan Abbott is the best math teacher I have had to date. He was always on time for our sessions and always asked how I was doing and what I had been up to, almost like I was catching up with an old friend every Tuesday afternoon. His unique way of explaining the problem and getting me to understand the processes kept me focused and able to remember how to solve the problems. I looked forward to our hour long sessions each week because I knew with each session I was continuing to add to my knowledge and understanding of the math required for the college program I will be entering in the Spring. Dan never came down on me for not knowing how to work out some problems and instead he took me through step by step and made sure I was right there with him. Unlike a monotone tutor, Dan had his own way of relating the material to something I could relate to in my own life. I would recommend Dan to just about anyone who needs help with math in any way and is not looking for some boring math teacher or an expensive tutor that may or may not be beneficial to your child’s needs."

"Dan came highly recommended to help with Math SAT prep by a college counselor my friend had hired for her children.  We are very happy we got to know him and work with him. Among other things, Dan was able to pin-point specific areas my daughter needed additional help with. It had been a while since she had taken Algebra, and Dan pinpointed specific areas where she needed special attention.  He even went so far as to purchase additional material to help her with specific types of Algebra word problems, and offered test-day nutritional suggestions. Dan has a down to earth and friendly manner, and both my daughter and I immediately felt comfortable with him. Due in part to Dan's reliablity, consistency, and insight, my daughter was able to significantly increase her prior test score and attain a Math score of 720.  We are all very proud of her, and pleased with our choice to take advantage of Dan's tutoring. It’s our pleasure to recommend him to others.
